Crab Rail Systems for Core-Sand Transport
Beside achieving a homogenous mixture, correct transport for core-sand mixtures is one of the most important conditions necessary for achieving an optimum core-sand quality for casting.
The used conveyors have to fulfill the following conditions:
- avoiding of particle size separation of the mixture,
- avoiding of particle grinding and dust generation by shear forces during transport,
- minimisation of air and heat contact to avoid binder reactions,
- avoiding compaction of the mixture,
- fast transport time to the core-shooting machine after mixing,
- mixing an transport by batch to guarantee controlled retention time before core-shooting.
The experience showed that standard conveyors such as screws, belts and vibrating conveyors have a negative effect on the mixture and therefore on the core quality.
The KLANN sand distribution systems work with a travelling hoist gear on which a bin is connected. Using this system horizontal and vertical transport can be achieved with one unit. The sand is loaded in the bin from above and then discharged by tilting or by a flap. The bin volume depends on the mixer used and the machine configuration.
This hoist gear transport system has already shown itself to have high availability, operating security and flexible applications. The system is especially used for installation in existing shops, where the transport has to cover large distances and varying heights.
